This Bike is in Amazing Condition for 42 Years Old!! It is a Pristine Eroica Class Touring Bike Fitted out for the Grand Tour. I bought it from the original owner who purchased it directly from Claud Butler's original shop in Clapham in 1984. He and his wife had many tours across the Channel and in the UK. He had it re-painted 12 years ago and more recently fitted the Swytch Electric Motor to continue riding as health reasons put an end to their touring. For all of its life it has been a cherished possession and kept indoors out of the weather. He gave me the original Bars and front wheel should its next owner want to return it to its original set up.

531 tubing in various forms has been around in for over 50 years now. It was originally used in aircraft construction, then racing cars, motorbikes and most importantly for cycles. In that time it's notched up more Tour de France wins than any other tubeset (27). Originally plain gauge, it has over the years been available as taper gauged tube, butted, oversized, undersized, wafer thin, ovalized and even larger diameter in the centre of the tube than the ends used by the master builder Horace Bates in his 'Cantiflex' frames. Perhaps the weirdest incarnation was the "Curly Stays" fitted to Hetchins and now some Bob Jackson cycles. No other manufacturer of cycletubing offered this kind of range and flexibility (and probably will never do so again) so 531 became THE tubing for custom build frames as its availablity in a dazzling array of shapes and sizes so the custom builder can pick and mix to suit the rider and purpose.

I Have Many Reynolds 531 Road Bikes, This One is in Great Original Condition,
531 tubing in various forms has been around in for over 50 years now. It was originally used in aircraft construction, then racing cars, motorbikes and most importantly for cycles. In that time it's notched up more Tour de France wins than any other tube set (27). Originally plain gauge, it has over the years been available as taper gauged tube, butted, oversized, undersized, wafer thin, ovalized and even larger diameter in the centre of the tube than the ends used by the master builder Horace Bates in his 'Cantiflex' frames. Perhaps the weirdest incarnation was the "Curly Stays" fitted to Hetchins and now some Bob Jackson cycles. No other manufacturer of cycle tubing offered this kind of range and flexibility (and probably will never do so again) so 531 became THE tubing for custom build frames as its availablity in a dazzling array of shapes and sizes so the custom builder can pick and mix to suit the rider and purpose. The 3-Speed Sturmey Archer Hub Dated 1948 Works Perfectly!All Bearings do What They are Supposed to do, Brakes need New Pads,but I will Supply them with the Bike.
Being Early Postwar it has a Combination of Prewar Nickle Plating and Bits of Shiny Chrome, All British Bike Builders stopped Building Bicycles thru the 2nd World War and produced Munitions for the War Effort. Once They Retooled for Bike Building They Used their Old Stock of Prewar Parts on the Production Line. This One's a Survivors!!!
